We’ve talked about old-fashioned veils, but what about long veils? Thoughts? (This bride looks STUNNING.) xoxo
P.S. I’m having second thoughts about my dress. Is that normal? Eeps.

There is some magic in having a beautiful veil. But only to go with a classic dress. The one in the pic is amazing.
I also had second thoughts about my dress. I think it was because from the time I bought it to the time I got married style changed, not much but the process of planning a wedding my idea morphed from one type of look to something a bit more sophisticated. But after thinking about the dress and if I really LOVED it I decided that I did, I actually fell in love with the dress on me instead of on a hanger and no matter how many other dresses I saw in magazines they would not give me the same feeling as MY dress did. I also did a cathedral length veil, which was a foot longer than my train, with Alencon lace around the edges. I was beautiful and I got sooo many compliments on how chic and contemporary it looked. I felt soo beautiful on my wedding day and that is the most important thing how you feel whether its a trendy dress or not but how you feel walking down the aisle to your love.
LOVE the dress you picked out. I think it’s normal to have second thoughts on everything at some point when it comes to your wedding. Love the long veil…goes best with a simple dress I think.
I wore a super long, simple veil for the ceremony (along with a little tiara), then tore off the veil for the reception. All my friends warned me about having a veil and being hugged (and tugged) all day long. You are only a bride ONCE (hopefully), so go long and fabulous!
i was sure i wanted a chic birdcage veil for my wedding. but when i went for my last dress fitting, one veil in particular caught my attention. it was stuffed in a rack with a gazillion others. and as soon as i tried it on, i knew it was perfection. it was unadorned, just tulle on a hair comb, but it was loooooong. amazingly long. longer than my dress. i loved my veil more than my wedding dress! i say go big, or go home!
of course, that still doesn’t stop me from falling in love with all these awesome fascinators and birdcage veils that are everywhere nowadays! :D
I LOVE long veils. I had a long simple one which attached under a simple shorter layer. {It looks like this bride might have a similar one}. After the wedding ceremony, I removed the long one and just wore the short one during our reception.
It is soooo normal! It happened to me. I got married last summer and had the perfect dress…but everytime I would go to the bridal salon to have a fitting, I would see other dresses that I had never seen before…and want to try them on…and think about walking down the aisle in them…and it was ridiculous! Especially because I did not have the luxury of returning my perfect dress for a full refund…haha! So…it is super completely and totally normal but it doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind because it is your wedding day and you will have the memories and the pictures for the rest of your life!!!
ps–as for the dress second-thoughts…I think it’s normal. it happened to a friend but then she really loved it. It’s just all so overwhelming and you have so much on your mind!
I wore the longest veil ever. I think it was about 3 feet long or so from the bottom of my dress. I never wanted to wear it for my reception so I wasn’t worried about ruining it or anything. I just loved the drama of it. so, yes! I’m all for it!
I just looked back at your Smitten post from when you tried the dress on over the holiday, you sounded really happy! I think that if you go back to it and read about how utterly ecstatic you were, you might have a better idea if its just nerves or if you’re really feeling down and out about yur dress.
Good Luck!
I had a long veil, I loved it. It made me feel very bridal.
Second thoughts totally normal. I did, but looking back don’t regret a thing. The thing with girls like us who love style is that we could choose 10 dresses…and chances are after the wedding you’ll still continue to see dresses you love.
The snag is that you only get to choose one. As long as that one makes you feel beautiful and like yourself you have nothing to worry about. Hair and make-up makes a massive difference to how you feel on the day. Your dress is simple and totally beautiful!
Totally normal to question your dress…
I have photographed weddings, brides and veils for over 15 years,
and as to the veil…
Longer and fewer layers the better!
You cannot imagine what this will do for the photos alone!
besides, how many times in you life can you really wear one?
