First Dates (Behind the Scenes)

Ha, this is how I feel about making new friends as an adult. I met a a girl at a restaurant the other day (my boyfriend and I sent she and her boyfriend a drink) and my coworkers and I have been running by all the “first date” situations that could happen at her house party tonight–because it totally applies to platonic friendships! How early to show up? What do I bring? Ha, I feel like I’m meeting a boyfriend for the first time.

My first date with my husband was pretty unique! He invited me to go with a group of friends to serve a tiny village in Mexico. We spent a week serving families in 90 degree weather. We slept in tents, ate bologna sandwiches, laughed and played with kids all week. We were filthy and only had the opportunity to take one shower. It was one of the best weeks of my life! We learned a ton about each other, fell in love, and 27 years later, we are still together.
