Have a Great (Long) Weekend.

What are your plans for the weekend? We are planning to relax around our neighborhood this weekend, although the boys are campaigning hard to go to Coney Island. I’m also hoping to watch this documentary about a marriage — have you seen it? Hope you have a good one, and in the meantime, here are a few posts from around the web…

I’ve never heard of that Companion app before. I always get scared walking to my college apartment at night, so I’m planning to download Companion ASAP! Also, the astonished animals are too funny. I love the Koala :)

“Its not you, its them” had me howling – I don’t have kids of my own, but I’ve lived with and helped raise two baby cousins and a boerboel puppy (aka South African Mastiff) which turns out to be more of a handful then the children, at some point children understand what you say to them… they ignore you but they still understand, puppies not so much – I’m digressing, the point is I still remember the time between the ages of 3 and four when my niece was obsessed with eating plants, plants that would make it hard for her to breathe or swallow and yet we had to watch her and she wasn’t allowed to play outside alone because she kept eating the damn plants??… My favorite memory of her though is when she was still on a bottle and she would wake me in the middle of the night by sitting on my face and I would put her on my hip and we’d go make her, her middle of the night snack with a side random toddler conversation about the dark and the things that go bump in it..
children should come with warning labels even if when they aren’t yours.. beware you will fall in love with them and they in turn will drive you to the edge and try and push you off!

Love these. I always look forward to your Friday line-up. Does Anton still look at Alex with awe? Babies can be so sweet with their fathers. I wish we had even more photos of our newborns. The nostalgia is big!
That trench! And some of their other denim items! The astonished animals were wonderful, although followed by the heart-wrenching photographs and artistic/critical responses to the senseless death of the 3-year-old Syrian Aylan Kurdi. Just crushing. Bored Panda posts some challenging material.

This is the last big tourist weekend at the beach so I am staying close to home. Coney Island sounds nuts to me!

We’re renters and our master bedroom doesn’t have installed overhead lighting so we strung globe lights across the ceiling and LOVE IT. It gives off such a warm, whimsical feeling. Tip for those who try this: Use those huge construction staples to secure to the wall or ceiling. We don’t have a staple gun so we just hammered them in and they work great. Though we only discovered this after failing MISERABLY with thumbtacks and nails.
