I think they’re actually kind of cute…but only a few people could pull them off! I, for one, would look ridiculous. But the model was able to pull it off!
OK, so I grew up in the military, where these issued glasses are called “BC” glasses because they’re as good as birth control. Ha!
In college (uh.. about twelve years ago…Lordy!) I got my dad to find me a pair of these BC glasses and had my prescription lenses put in. I was much punkier and less glammy than now, so I must confess I pretty pulled it off.
It warms my heart that America has embraced big, clunky glasses. Nerd Chic has arrived at long last!

It seems like all of the online vintage sellers are putting their models in oversized dorky glasses, too. I had those in fifth grade…it was terrible! I still wear glasses and they are black rimmed nerd glasses but I just can’t go back to the giant rims…ever.
