Home Inspiration: Antlers

Ok, ok, I know antlers peaked years ago and are now officially over. Everyone’s sick of plastic antlers, cloth antlers, knit antlers, lucite antlers, chandelier antlers, jewelry antlers–too many antlers! But even after the explosion and backlash, I still love honest-to-goodness actual antlers as art. They add a beautiful natural shape to the wall, and you can display them guilt-free, because deer shed their antlers every year.

What do you think, dear readers? Is this trend timeless or so 2004?

yup, i like them too. they remind me of my mom who is from a tiny town in northern utah and detests deer, even though she is the most gentle human being alive.

i must be behind the eight-ball. i love antlers and didn’t know they were cool in 2004. mind you, i did buy a faux wood moose head complete with antlers around then . . . time flies. to think my basement is now outdated. argh.

Honestly, I think anything is timeless if its YOUR STYLE. Our fashion and home decor trends are moving really fast right now – how can anyone keep up. And if we all kept up, then all our homes (and closets) would look the same – and, boy, would that be lame or what?. If you like it, and you can make it look good, then right on. (But, as others said, I am not into anything that came from an animal being injured or killed.)

I’m going to go a head and admit I like the antlers when they’re naturally shed *and* when they’re attached to a deer head. I’m still not sure why people think there’s a difference between eating meat and hanging animal heads on your wall, but personally I’m fine with both.

I still love them too! I have a pair that sit on my bedside table in a random heap that I got at Evolution in soho, and I think they just add a touch of nature to a city apartment. I’m kind of over antlers in design though, but brass antlers sound really fantastic! (like rebekah was saying above)

i actually like them…not the ones with the heads still intact, but just naturally shed antlers. i think anything from nature is timeless, and beyond trends, much like birds and flowers.

and i’m going a step further and admit with slight hesitation that i like chandelier antlers. maybe it’s because i’m from arizona :P

You know what, dearie? I still love them. I think they’re beautiful as a centerpiece on a dining room table or even in the setting pictured above. Maybe I’m so 2004, but if you love something, it sticks! :)

Unless, of course, that thing that you love is hammer pants. Those? Those should not stick on a roll of duct tape.

I still have a liking towards them. I only have one white pair in my home and I haven’t gotten tired of them so until that time comes I find them cute and quirky!!

I don’t really like them for my house but I think they really cool in some places – like the picture above. I work in a shop that sells vintage items and the antlers fly out the door whenever the owner has them. She has found some really cool one – pink hued and old ones with dried moss.

i love the decorative ones. the ones that came from a real animal not so much. my husband has one set and they stay in the garage.
